History
In 2012, I started a Brazilian wax salon in Akasaka by myself. I learned the technique through a four-day training course, but without sufficient knowledge, I continued running an inexperienced salon. During this time, I discovered Alexandria Professional (AP), a pioneer in the world of sugaring, through information from my clients.
At that time, nobody in Japan was offering sugaring services, so I realized that I needed to go overseas to learn the technique. I aimed to minimize salon closures and learn in a short period, but I was told that I could only be taught on a schedule of five days a week, 9 AM to 5 PM for a whole month. I couldn’t afford to be away from Japan for that long, and lacking the confidence in my English skills, I decided to give up.
AP has a contract that professionals must adhere to, stating that once you learn their techniques, you cannot perform treatments using other products. Since AP's products were not available in Japan, even if I learned the techniques, I would need to import all the expensive products myself, which posed significant challenges, especially for someone like me who started a salon alone. I struggled with this dilemma. However, a conversation with the owner of AP left a lasting impression: they would not work with estheticians who do not prioritize their clients.
Despite continuing my waxing services, my strong desire to avoid harming my clients’ skin prevailed, leading me to decide to overcome that wall and pursue sugaring. I told myself, "No matter what, there’s no wall I can’t break through!"
AP's sugaring technique allows for the removal of short hair, and the more I learned about the system and the products, the more I became a fan of AP. I was able to beautify my clients and perform treatments with confidence, and I truly felt that learning sugaring was the right choice for me.
Now, I have also obtained my educator certification and am teaching sugaring to my staff. It brings me joy to hear them say, “Sugaring is fun!” I aspire to spread sugaring across Japan and help many people discover the appeal of AP’s sugaring techniques.
